In anticipation of doing a presentation on procedures for making up missed work, I would appreciate any advice from this group or its viewers. What has worked for you?
I made a bulletin board where I posted MO's and work for each day, so the students knew what they missed and had a week to turn it in to me (I wouldn't ask them for work because it was their responsibility to look at the board and turn in their missed work). I did this mid-3rd marking period and it made life alot easier.
I had something simialr to Sean. I set up a folder in the back of class for each period and put the missing assignment(s) with the student's name on it as well as the due date. At the beginning of the class when the student came back they would go right to their period's folder and take out their work. If need be we would go over the missing material after school.
I had a make-up day. As they walked in, they will get a gradekeeper or realtime profile with all of their missing assignments and their current average.
All assignments were numbered and laid out on the table. Students would do so on their own accord. (for good reason:some students are happy with a D). At the end of the day, they would paper-cliped all their missing work and handed it in. I scheduled a make-up day onto their calendar, so they know when it is. I did this twice every marking period.I also DID NOT accept anything late after the make-up day.
