We discussed several essentials from most of the 10 chapters in the book. Even that may seem overwhelming. It's important to keep this book at hand and commit to skimming through one chapter each week and trying to apply just one good idea. That's the way to ownership of the habits of mind that lead to effective teaching and learning.

This book is like a candy store. You want to do everything in it, to absorb every good piece of advice ... and you just can't take it all in. So, like a candy store, it should be sampled slowly. I feel like this book will be sitting by my teacher desk, and I'll look at it at the end of each day, just a page or two, and reflect how to add the practices to my teaching.
